Well, its mid-february and I’m just getting my goals up. Don’t hate. the brain these days is a little confused to say the least. so, its been a crazy month to say the least. i’m working on new things. this month my goals are simpler. much simpler. i’m finding myself. trying to work, live, and play intentionally.
so here’s last months goals:
- write my business plan FOR REAL
- determine a new photog for my website
- create a process flow for my website
- create a process flow for my photography
create a process flow for my design/ wedding stuff ( sort of ) try a new recipe prepare a week of blogs ( ahead of time ) get up with my husband
Yikes. not doing so good? Do you ever put such important things off forever? I’m looking for new sources for numbers 1-5. Thankfully my hubbs is a project manager and process flow expert at his work. I’ve enlisted his help to get through some of these I simply can’t figure out how to do. Do you ever put things off because you just don’t know how to do them? Procrastinate because you can’t figure it out? Guilty. Don’t believe me? see past goals here.
This month, I’m starting fresh. Since I’ve only got 1/2 month left, I’m simplifying. Trying my best to be intentional. Can I get a wooop woooop!!??
- get up with my husband each morning ( guys 5:30 is just too early for me! )
- learn how to & rest each day
- make my bed every day again
- get ahead ( at least a week ) with blogs
- enjoy valentines day and my hubbs ( yay for love month!!! i’m that giddy chick! … kinda like her 🙂 )
- make hubbs a no-bake valentines treat ( i chose dark chocolate )
- write at least 2 friends cards
- continue to walk max every day
- loose at least 2 more pounds
- book a logo project
- spend at least an hour learning more on calligraphy
What are your goals? I’d love a link to your goals! Lets be accountable lovelies!
ps – how do you deal with being brave?
The photo is of my dad on my wedding day. He thought he’d get his “hair did” just like we were. Gotta love him!
Well, I couldn’t be more proud of my dad. Today is his birthday, and he’s pretty much amazing. He’s been through some crazy stuff this past year, and I’ll stick by his side no matter what. You’re awesome dad. You’ve always happily provided our family with whatever we need, not stressed when we thought money grew on trees, and cracked us up with just being crazy. So happy to call you my dad. I love you! Happy birthday deddy! 😀 Click here if you want to drop him a note!
This week, its all random, and that’s ok right? That’s how my brain is, and most of you know that about me. 🙂 So for starters, the amazing Rex-Goliath. You can never go wrong with it. My hubbs and I love them. Free Range Red and the Pinot Noir, two of my favorites. Definitely try them. You can pick them up for under ten dollars at just about any grocery store. Just look for the big rooster ( hey fabulous branding technique! )
Pink hair? Yup. I’m loving it. I may or may not have a secret…. 😉
Leggings. I’m obsessed. Haven’t worn these yet, but I just got them. I think they are presh and can’t believe that I’m doing it. How. Fun. Sapling Press – have you seen them? Well, I’m a card lover times a thousand, and I always check the back of the card to see who made it. Letterpress is getting really really popular these days and so is sapling press. Click on their link above. I’ve purchased some of my favorite cards from them. So simple and to the point. Fabulous 😀

As artist, I feel like we all have a sense of perfectionism that we just can’t get a grasp on. Either we are that perfect painter that won’t stop until we’ve reached its perfection. Or, we just add and add and add or rearrange until its perfect? But what really is perfect?
\ Perfectionism, in psychology, is a personality trait characterized by a person’s striving for flawlessness and setting excessively high performance standards, accompanied by overly critical self-evaluations and concerns regarding others’ evaluations. It is best conceptualized as a multidimensional characteristic, as psychologists agree that there are many positive and negative aspects. In its maladaptive form, perfectionism drives people to attempt to achieve an unattainable ideal, and their adaptive perfectionism can sometimes motivate them to reach their goals. In the end, they derive pleasure from doing so. When perfectionists do not reach their goals, they often fall into depression.
Gosh, it seems like from that definition, its not a good thing… right? I think we all strive to use perfectionism as a good thing. Don’t stop till we get it right. If you don’t have time to do it right, then when will you have time to do it over again? There’s so many quotes that go through my head about perfectionism. But really, look up at that definition… its not good!
A book I’m reading right now really digs in deep, and I’m thankful my heart was prepared to read it. It says “Perfectionism has nothing to do with getting it right. It has nothing to do with fixing things. It has nothing to do with standards. Perfectionism is a refusal to let yourself move ahead. It is a loop–an obsessive, debilitating closed system that causes you to get stuck in the details of what you are writing or painting or making and to lose sight of the whole.” – Julia Cameron
Thanks Julia. You totally put that into perspective for me. I don’t need to be perfect. Who IS perfect other than God? Nobody. We all strive to be that way, but it also takes us away from our goal or our outcome. Its not good, it will push you to your core. It will show you who is boss. Right? We try to attempt our unobtainable ideal. Why do we do this? Who are we trying to impress? You can only be as good as you can only be.
I encourage you to step back and realize that perfectionism is not a way of life. Nobody is perfect, and we need to focus on the one who is. Do you have a particular something that you’re striving towards perfection for? Stop. Do your best.
PS // Do you have gifts of imperfection?
We’re working with a new branding client whose style is very rustic and modern. This carpenter and restoration service really has family ties throughout his entire business, using cherry tries and rustic woods mixed with simple little modern elements – such as block lettering styles and clean edges. We captured his style with a three color scheme – antique blue, black and bold grey. When this branding is complete I can’t wait to share! What does this style say to you? Check out our past mood boards.
ps / love this denim on denim style from a fellow atlanta blogger
This season I’m really into flexibility with leather boots. I love how you can layer these, add some cute sucks, some leggings, jeans, whatever you like. Here’s a perfect roundup of lots of different styles all at great prices. Which ones your favorite? I surely can’t pick 😉
have you seen our past roundups?
ps / do you use your talent?

I found this amazing design project here and my jaw completely dropped. What an amazingly clever idea and how much does this hit home for me? So much. First off, this design was by a student in Singapore ( designer warren tey ) who created a different mark for each focus group, creating the entire brand around simplicity and consistently creative elements. The elements in the band-aids and even the staff tags. Love the color, simplicity and all the elements that work together. Pretty cool write up and for an amazing cause.
